An upcoming major update to the Xbox app for iOS will allow users to stream games from their Xbox consoles to their iPhones and iPads. The same feature was rolled out recently in beta for Android users (after being tested as Console Streaming about a year ago) and its debut on iOS is imminent as well, in time for the November 10 market launch of Microsoft's latest Xbox Series X and Series S.
The app will be able to launch your Xbox, which will power on quietly and without turning on the status light, and you'll be able to do that both over Wi-Fi when on the same network, as well as truly remotely over a mobile network. You'll then be able to browse your Xbox contents on the iPhone and use its screen to display the games being run on the Xbox, minus the TV. The functionality shouldn't be confused with xCloud, the cloud-based game streaming platform over which Apple and Microsoft still have some things to iron out.
- According to the Xbox site, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller 2 will not work on iOS but I can assure you in my testing it does with iOS 14. From there, the experience is quite similar to being in front of an Xbox normally, albeit with some minor delays and a much smaller screen.
- Oct 20, 2020 About a month ago, Microsoft enabled Xbox remote play console streaming on the beta app on Android. Today, the Xbox app on iOS and Android were just updated to bring in loads of new features but.
- Microsoft probably wants you to be able to pair your Xbox One controller via Bluetooth with iOS (you already can with OSX). And, Apple probably wants a licensing fee to include a 'MFi' (made for i-devices) firmware update for the Xbox One Bluetooth controllers. So I'm guessing they're at an impass until that's resolved.
- The Pair button are found on the back of the controller (between the bumpers) and the front of the console (next to the USB port). Press the Xbox button on your controller to power it on. It should immediately connect to your new console. Select Update controller on the set up screen. Select Next after you see the update confirmation screen.
Oct 19, 2020 Microsoft's Xbox app update for iOS and iPadOS is now live, allowing Xbox One owners to stream games to their devices. A new Xbox app is available in the App Store that includes a remote play.
The remote play feature is accessed from the My consoles section in the redesigned Xbox app. The complete overhaul, as detailed on TheVerge, includes a new homescreen, friends tab, search interface, and My library tab (where the My consoles bit is).
The Xbox remote play is similar to Sony's remote play - the PS4 game streaming capability that's been available on Androidand iOS since last year.
What are some good photoshop apps. The new Xbox for iOS app is still in testing with TestFlight members, but a public release should be happening soon.

PlayStation has this remote play feature and I've used it on my iPad. Works great! So I'm hopeful the Xbox will work just as well. Whatsapp and facebook messenger in one app.

Backbone Labs has launched Backbone One, a game controller for iPhone that, used with its companion app, aims to make mobile gaming closer to its console counterparts.
Quietly launched on Tuesday, Backbone consists of two components, consisting of the controller itself and a companion app. The controller is currently only available to purchase through the companion app, offered in limited 'drops' to consumers, rather than through traditional retailers.
Consisting of an expandable controller that lengthens and fits around the iPhone, the Backbone One sports two analog sticks, a d-pad, four conventional buttons, and dual shoulder triggers. On the base are a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Lightning port for pass-through charging, while a lightning connector inside slots into the iPhone itself.
The controller also has four other buttons, which all take advantage of the companion Backbone app's various functions, which aims to elevate the mobile gaming platform to one closer to console gaming. A bright orange Backbone button will launch the app on the inserted iPhone, which will also display all the games installed on the device, along with other games that support external controllers, such as those on Apple Arcade. A dedicated button is offered for users to record 1080p30 gameplay videos or to take a screenshot, which is stored on the iPhone and able to be edited and shared on social media via the app. A third extra button is used to handle social gaming, with a tap able to mute in-app voice chat in the app's Party feature, which is also used to keep track of friends.
The social element of the app can also alert players when friends are playing a game which they can join, increasing the chance of multiplayer gaming.
The controller is compatible with the iPhone 6s and later iPhone models, running iOS 13 or later. Weighing 4.87 ounces, the controller measures 3.7 inches tall, 1.28 inches deep, and between 6.94 inches contracted and 10.14 inches expanded.
The Backbone One controller costs $99, sold via the official app, but the initial 3,000 units of stock have sold out. The app advises the next release period will be on October 30.
